Hi, my name is Stephanie. I am an overfunctioner with ADHD. For me, that means that my brain requires a small amount of stress or pressure to focus and get things done. It also means that I do everything and try for perfection. So, accepting things that aren’t perfect is an area of growth for me. I have a mantra for feeling uncomfortable because I am out of my comfort zone. I tell myself, “Do it anyway.” One way I pushed myself outside of my comfort zone this year was learning to make short videos for the classroom. As a Social-Emotional Learning Specialist in an elementary school, I often notice that students need more practice unpacking what empathy looks and sounds like in real life. So, I made a short film. Is it perfect? No way. Is it wonderful, absolutely.
